‘There is a chance for others to show their muscle in the middle’ – Former India coach’s remark on Harmanpreet Kaur’s ban at Asian Games 2023

Team India is all set to win medals in the Asian Games, which are taking place in Hangzhou, China. Notably, regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been banned for the two matches by the Apex Cricket Council as the star batter smashed the stumps while protesting her dismissal and later criticized umpires in the post-match presentation during the third ODI against Bangladesh, which took place in July this year. The side will be led by India’s vice captain, Smriti Mandhana, in the absence of the regular skipper.

Meanwhile, former India coach Nooshin Al-Khadeer feels that it is a great opportunity for the rest of the batters to showcase their talent by boosting India’s middle order in the absence of the regular skipper. The 42-year-old cricketer encouraged people to move out after Harmanpreet incident and urged the people to support the men’s and women’s teams to bring glory to India in the ongoing Asian Games.

Harmanpreet Kaur is back to cricket, let’s take some pride: Nooshin Al-Khadeer

“Harmanpreet is an experienced campaigner and a good captain. But then there is a chance for others to show their muscle in the middle and make most of the chances. Harmanpreet is back to cricket, let’s take some pride and glory in the fact that our men’s team won the Asia Cup and look at the Asian Games for more success for the men’s and women’s teams,” former interim coach Nooshin Al-Khadeer  said.

In addition, the former India spinner backs the team while stating that India should win the gold medals owing to their flabbergasting performances against Asian teams. Moreover, the former bowler also named a few cricketers who could make a lasting impact by bringing medals for the country. “India should win gold; we have always done well against Asian sides. Medium-pacer Titas Sadhu is an exciting prospect, the way she has grown in fitness and skill after the U-19 World Cup,” she added further.
