Shreyas Iyer came back to form with the bat during the Indore ODI on Sunday. The 28-year-old scored his 3rd ODI Century to come back into form with the bat. This is a very crucial knock for the right-handed batter from Mumbai with the World Cup around the corner.

The 28-year-old has just come back to the Indian team after nearly missing 6 months away due to injury. Iyer had made his comeback to the team during the Asia Cup but yet another niggle ended his tournament.

The Indian team are in a great position thanks to Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. The pair added 200 runs for the 2nd wicket on Sunday during the 2nd ODI. The Indian team has already won the first game by 5 wickets at Mohali.

A timely century from Shreyas Iyer –

Ruturaj Gaikwad was out early for just 8 runs to leave India at 16/1. That’s when Shreyas Iyer walked into bat. The Indian number-3 batter was in a different frame of mind today. The 28-year-old went after every Australian bowler and played with an attacking mindset. Iyer went after the spinners as well as the pace bowlers. Along with Shubman Gill, the right-handed batter rotated the strike well. Shreyas Iyer did not let the bad balls go as he was quick to punish them.

The moment of the day came in the 5th ball of the 30th over bowled by Adam Zampa. Shreyas Iyer just tapped the ball down the ground to take a single and get to his 3rd ODI ton. There was a huge roar of delight as the Indian batter showed his happiness and delight.

Just after scoring his ton, Iyer suffered from cramps and finally played a tired shot to be dismissed. Shreyas Iyer was out for 105 runs which came off 90 balls with 11 fours and 3 massive sixes.

India at that time had reached 216 for 2 in the 31st over and was looking good for a total above 370. The last time India had played at this venue was in January against New Zealand. India had scored 385 runs and won the game by 90 runs to win the series.
