Showing faith in the current Indian team former India skipper Ravi Shastri said that Rohit Sharma and co are capable of winning both the Test Championship finals and ODI World Cup. Notably, the Test Championship finals are scheduled to be organized in June this year while World Cup will be held in the latter half of the year.

Speaking on India’s chances to win the tournament Shastri said, “This team (India) can win both the World Test Championship and the World Cup. Aur agar hua to phir bolti band (If that happens, the critics will be muzzled).” Shastri was speaking on a YouTube channel named Sports Yaari.

India is set to face Australia in the Test Championship finals

India after winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy failed to replicate the performance in the limited over format. They were defeated by Australia in the three-match ODI series after four years. However, India will be looking to take some positives out of it as they will reunite after two months for the finals of the Test Championship.

The team will face Australia at the Oval Cricket Ground in London from June 7. This will be India’s second Test Championship finals in two years and India will look to cash it. Meanwhile, before the tournament, Indian players will participate in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League.
