Big Bash League 2023-24
Why Sydney Sixers star Tom Curran ended his season in BBL 13 after 4-match ban? Check here:
England star all-rounder Tom Curran’s season with the Sydney Sixers in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) comes to an end due to his knee injury, which ruled him out for the rest of the game. Notably, the right-arm pacer sustained a grave injury during the clash between the Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars last Saturday, which ruled him out of the remainder of the edition.
The news has been confirmed by the franchise, as they confirmed it in the recently released statement about Tom Curran’s injury. However, sources revealed that the great cricketer is set to return to England to join his national side for the upcoming fixtures. The 28-year-old cricketer had a season full of controversy, but despite that, he played a huge role in the Sydney Sixers and became a crucial part of his team.
“The full extent of the injury is currently not known with Curran set to return to the UK in the coming days and undergo further assessment at home,” a Sydney Sixers statement said.
I didn’t expect the stand-off that resulted: Tom Curran
Meanwhile, Tom Curran made the controversy early this season during the clash against the Hobart Hurricanes when he had his heated arguments with on-field umpires, which made him suffer a four-match ban from the season. However, the great seamer publicly apologised to his fans and umpires after his arguments, which sparked the most controversy of the season.
“The interaction with Umpire Qureshi took me by surprise at a time when I was very focused on my pre-match routine. I didn’t expect the stand-off that resulted. I deeply regret the way I reacted to it and the resultant impact on Umpire Qureshi, the Sydney Sixers and myself personally. My intention was always to veer off to Umpire Qureshi’s right, in a similar way to my run up at the other end. I had never considered running into him and never considered that he would think that was my intention,” Tom Curran said being quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
