Since then, there have been many great performers in the tournament. Many legends have been responsible for some of the memorable moments in the tournament.  

Batters have been dominant in Asia Cup, more so in recent times. There have been instances where the teams have chased totals of over 320. Lately, many batters have produced some great batting performances. They are possible only because of great partnerships.

5. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan was one of the best opening pairs in ODIs from 2013 to 2021. In Asia Cup 2018, the duo was involved in a 210-run stand for the opening wicket, which changed the complexion of the game. In Dubai, the duo smashed the bowlers of Pakistan for fun and helped India to win the match against the arch-rivals. The duo scored 210 runs for the first wicket. 

4. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane have played a lot of cricket together in Test cricket. Till 2015, Rahane played a good number of ODIs. In the 2014 Asia Cup against Bangladesh, the duo was involved in a 213-run partnership for the third wicket. It helped India hugely. Till date, it remains the highest partnership for the third wicket in the history of Asia Cup against a full member nation.  

3. Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmad

Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed recently played very good knocks against Nepal and helped Pakistan to win the match. In the inaugural match of Asia Cup 2023, the duo scored a hundred each and saved Pakistan from a tricky position. For the fifth wicket, the duo scored 214 runs, which is the highest in the history of Asia Cup for the fifth wicket or below. While Babar Scored 151(131), Iftikhar scored the fastest hundred of Asia Cup. 

2. Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik

Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik were two of the best batters of Pakistan in the 2000s. In the 2004 Asia Cup, the duo scored 223 runs for the third wicket, which helped Pakistan to post a mammoth total against Hong Kong in Colombo. Till date, it remains the highest partnership for the third wicket in the history of the Asia Cup.  

1. Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez

Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez played very good knocks against India in Mirpur in Asia Cup 2012. At one point in the match, it seemed as if the duo were not going to be dismissed. For the opening wicket, the duo posted a partnership of 224 runs, which remains the highest partnership for any wicket in the history of Asia Cup. Despite the efforts from the duo, Pakistan could not win the match, thanks to a sensational 183 from Virat Kohli.
