Top five bowlers with best economy rates In Indian T20 League history

The 16th edition of the Indian T20 League is around the corner as it is set to kick off on March 31 after the completion of the Women’s T20 League. The opening match of the cash-rich league will be played between the Chennai franchise and the defending champions Gujarat at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

The league has witnessed a lot of great bowlers like Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Anil Kumble,  Zaheer Khan, and many more who have bowled economically very well. For example, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the third-highest wicket-taker in the Indian T20 League in terms of seamers but he has conceded runs at an economy of 7.40.

Here is the list of the top five bowlers with the best economy rates in the Indian T20 League which are as follows:

5. Ravichandran Ashwin – 6.97

In the 15 editions of the Indian T20 League, Ravichandran Ashwin ranks as one of the most successful bowlers. He has played in more than 150 games in the league and has bagged more than 150 wickets at an economy rate of 6.97. He has played for franchise like Chennai, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan.

4. Dale Steyn – 6.91

Steyn has excelled in all aspects of his game. No matter where he played in the world, he has established his identity. In the 95 Indian T20 League games where he showed off his bowling abilities, he got a 6.91 economy.  His ITL career began in 2008 with the Deccan franchise, and it ended in 2020 with the Bangalore franchise.

3. Muttiah Murlidharan -6.67

Muttiah Muralidharan is perhaps the finest spinner in both the history of the game and the world. In his career, he has represented three Indian T20 League teams, taking 63 wickets in 66 games with an economy rate of 6.67. He played for numerous franchises, such as Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

2. Sunil Narine – 6.63

The Kolkata franchise has relied on this Caribbean man for a long time now. He was picked by Kolkata for the Indian 2012 auction, and from there on he began to glorify the team. With an incredible economy of 6.63, he has appeared in 135 games and grabbed 143 wickets. Moreover, throughout his illustrious ten-year career, he has bowled such fantastic spells for Kolkata side.

Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan has the best economy rate in the Indian T20 League. He made his ITL debut for the Hyderabad franchise in the 2017 season. So far, he has featured in 77 games and snapped 94 wickets with an economy of 6.37. Last season he was acquired by the Gujarat franchise.
