‘Trash replacing garbage’ – Fans react as PCB names replacements for Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah who sustained injuries against India in Asia Cup 2023
Babar Azam and Co. lost their second game of the Super Fours against India on September 11 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, Team India posted an impressive 356 runs against the Men in Green, whereas they were all bundled out for 128 in 32 overs after Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah did not come to bat as they sustained a minor niggle during the play. Following that, the Pakistan Cricket Board named their replacements after the star pacers sustained injuries against India.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has not revealed whether both will be playing in the ongoing Asia Cup or will be rested. In addition, the PCB states that Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf will be under the observation team while taking precautionary measures to keep themselves fit as the ODI World Cup is around the corner and is all set to commence in the host country, India, on October 5. Moreover, the board will seek permission from the ACC committee if it feels like resting the great seamers for the next seven days of play.

“This is only a precautionary measure keeping in mind the fitness and well-being of the players ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next month. Haris and Naseem will continue to remain under the observation of the team’s medical panel. The team management will only request replacement from the ACC technical committee if Naseem or Haris are ruled out for the next seven days,” a PCB media statement said.
Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board has called up Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan after Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah sustained injuries while bowling against India. “Pakistan have called up Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backups. The two have been called up after Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah picked up niggles in the match against India,” it added further.
