‘The Netherlands game will be just……..’ – Travis Head provides possible timeline of joining Australia’s ODI World Cup 2023 squad

The Australia team has lost back-to-back matches of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Team India and South Africa, respectively. Notably, Pat Cummins and Co. will be facing Sri Lanka on October 16 for their third clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 and will be looking to get their first win in the tournament. Australia are currently at the bottom of the points table and may be missing star batsman Travis Head during the game.

Notably, the left-handed batsman sustained injuries during the South Africa tour, owing to which he had to miss a few more matches of the ODI World Cup 2023. However, Travis Head has recently provided updates on his return to the Australian squad for the ongoing big tournament. The 29-year-old cricketer reveals that the doctors advised him to give himself the full ten weeks to recover; however, he can play the game after six weeks as well.

“It’s coming along well, and probably better than we hoped. When we decided not to go with surgery, which would have meant a ten-week recovery, we were told it would be a minimum of six weeks with the splint before we could look at playing again,” Travis Head told cricket.com.au.

I’m excited by the prospect of joining the boys over there later in the week: Travis Head

The great middle-order batsman reveals that he is set to mark his return ahead of their clash against the Netherlands, slated to take place on October 25. Moreover, the Adelaide-born cricketer will work on his progress ahead of joining the squad. However, the southpaw is thrilled to join his squad later this month for the rest of the matches.

“Going by that plan, the Netherlands game will be just under six weeks from impact which is a pretty aggressive date so everything would have to go perfectly from here to make that deadline. But we’ll just see how it progresses over the next few days and I’m excited by the prospect of joining the boys over there later in the week,” he added further.
