England star winger Phil Foden has been ruled out of EURO 2024 qualifiers against Ukraine on Sunday, March 26, and will miss the upcoming English Premier League fixture against Liverpool due to an appendicitis operation. Foden had surgery on Sunday morning, the football association confirmed.

Foden’s expected recovery time has not been determined, but he is likely to miss City’s Premier League encounter against Liverpool on the coming Saturday and is a debate for their Champions League quarterfinal first-leg match against Bayern Munich on April 11.

“Phil will now return to Manchester to begin rehabilitation. He will not be fit for this weekend’s Premier League game at home to Liverpool and it is unclear at this stage how long he will be unavailable for,” asserted a City statement.

Manchester City to play five league games next month

In addition to Reece James’ withdrawal due to a hamstring injury and Luke Shaw’s suspension, England manager Gareth Southgate will also be missing the likes of Foden. Twenty players are left for Southgate to choose from when they face Ukraine at Wembley. By defeating champions Italy by 2-1 on Thursday, England got its bid to the Euro 2024 tournament off to a successful start.

Currently, the Blues are in three big competitions Uefa Champions League, FA Cup and English Premier League as they are in contention to win all three. They face Sheffield United in the FA Cup semifinal on April 22 and face Bayern Munich in the Quarterfinals of the Champions League on April 11.

City are set to play five games next month in the Premier League, with one home game against the table toppers Arsenal on April 26. If we talk about the points table of the league, City are in second place with 61 points in the 27 games, behind the Gunners who are on 69 points. They have played one extra game than City.
