Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal appointed as Pakistan’s fast bowling and spin bowling coaches after ODI World Cup 2023 debacle
Former Pakistan cricketers Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have been named as Pakistan’s fast and spin bowling coaches, respectively, after Morne Morkel resigned as the coach following the ODI World Cup 2023 debacle. Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board looks to change everything after the Men in Green failed to reach the playoffs of the ODI World Cup 2023. Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal set their eyes on the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in the USA and the West Indies.
Umar Gul, who had already worked with the Pakistan team earlier as an interim coach, expressed his happiness after getting the permanent role. The former right-arm fast bowler had thanked PCB and his chairman, Zaka Ashraf, for giving him the opportunity. Moreover, the 41-year-old cricketer promises to take his side to the epitome of the level with the help of his bowling skills. The star cricketer is also the coach of the PSL team Quetta Gladiators.
“I am pleased to join as the bowling coach of the Pakistan team and feel honoured to have been allowed to contribute to Pakistan cricket by the Chairman PCB Management Committee Mr. Zaka Ashraf. Having had previous working experience with the men’s side, I will bring my coaching expertise with the aim of elevating Pakistan’s bowling prowess to new heights,” Umar Gul said.

Moreover, the right-arm spinner believes that his coaching skills will help enhance the team’s performance.
