‘Wah Maja hi Maja’- Fans react as Cricket Governing Body announces rescheduled matches of 2023 World Cup
The much-awaited World Cup re-schedule is out officially. India vs Pakistan match which was previously scheduled for 15th October and has been officially changed to 14th October due to security concerns because of a clash with the first day of the Navratri festival in Ahmedabad. Navratri is one of Gujarat’s most important celebrations.
Because the dates of the India-Pakistan match and the first day of Navratri coincided, local police asked authorities to relocate the match. The Cricket Governing Body has moved the match forwards by one day without changing the location. The dates tickets will go on sale have also been out, with a staggered approach taken to give as many fans as possible the best chance of seeing the mega cricketing event.
Here’s the list of Matches re-scheduled
The India-Pakistan match was originally set for Sunday, October 15th in Ahmedabad. However, it has been rescheduled to take place a day earlier on Saturday, October 14th at the same location. As a result, England’s match against Afghanistan in Delhi will be rescheduled for Sunday, 15 October, rather than Saturday, 14 October.
Pakistan’s encounter against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 10 October, rather than, 12 October, while Australia’s important match against South Africa in Lucknow has been rescheduled for, 12 October rather than, 13 October. Similarly, New Zealand’s game against Bangladesh, which was initially planned for 14 October as a day match in Chennai, has been pushed back to Friday, 13 October, and will now be played as a day-night match.
There are three alterations near the conclusion of the league stage, with the double-header matches of Australia vs Bangladesh in Pune (10:30 AM) and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata (02:00 PM) being shifted a day earlier to, 11 November. Meanwhile, India’s last league game against the Netherlands has been rescheduled for November 12th, a day-night match in Bengaluru.
The World Cup begins on, 5 October, with a match between 2019 finalists England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, and concludes on, 19 November, with the final at the same location.
