WATCH: Wasim Akram hits back at Hasan Raza’s controversial remark on India’s bowling attack
Team India becomes the first team to enter the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023, following their massive win against Sri Lanka. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. are the only teams currently undefeated in the tournament so far after registering seven out of the seven wins in the ongoing marquee event.
However, just a day ago, former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza made serious allegations against the Apex Cricket Board and the Indian Cricket Board, claiming that they gave them some suspicious and different balls in the second innings, which helped India win the game against Sri Lanka.
“We are seeing that when they are batting, they bat really well and suddenly the ball starts doing things when India bowl. It seemed like the ICC or the BCCI were giving them different and suspicious balls in the second innings. There needs to be an inspection done on the ball. There could also be an extra layer of coating on the ball for swing,” Hasan Raza said.
They get slammed by the world for such statements: Wasim Akram
Meanwhile, legendary cricketer Wasim Akram has lashed out at Raza’s claim, calling it baseless and an insult to all Pakistan cricketers. The well-renowned cricket commentator clarified that it can’t ever happen, as officials and umpires never do such wrong things in the game. In addition, the former right-arm pacer says that umpires gave the bowling team to pick the bowl, and it totally depends on the teams.
“They get slammed by the world (for such statements) and take us down as well with them. It is a very simple thing. The umpire asks the bowling team to pick the balls with which they would want to bowl. The bowlers choose from the box of 12 brand-new balls. All the match officials closely watch the whole thing. The bowlers pick two balls. Option 1 and Option 1. The umpires keep them in their pant pockets,” Wasim Akram said on A Sports.
