Watch: A fan proposes to Kaviya Maran in SA20 during the match of Sunrisers Eastern Cape
The SA20 has taken the cricketing fraternity by storm as fans have got to see some exciting cricketing action. The Match 14th of the competition was no different as Paarl Royals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape locked horns with each other. Sunrisers captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bowl first. During the match, a fan was spotted proposing to the owner of Sunrisers Eastern Cape Kavya Maran to marry him.
After the eighth over in the first innings, Paarl Royals were 60/3 in eight overs. In between overs, the cameraman focussed on some fans in the crowd. It was then that a fan was spotted holding a placard where it was written ‘Kavya Maran Will You Marry Me?’

Coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first, the Royals lost their dangerous opening duo of Jos Buttler and Jason Roy early in the innings by the score of 18. Roy was cleaned up by captain Markram for 6 while Buttler fell prey to Sisanda Magala for 12. Following the early wickets, Wihan Lubbe and Corbin Bosch added 40 runs for the third wicket.
However, their partnership was ended as Lube was cleaned up by Brydon Carse. At the other end, Bosch was struggling to get his innings going as he managed to score just 20 off 29 balls. The Royals suffered a dramatic collapse as they went from 58/2 to 96/7.
The Royals could only score 127/7 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Aiden Markram and Roelof van der Merwe were the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers as they both picked up 2/21 in four overs. Brydon Carse also picked up two wickets.
Marco Jansen once again starred with the bat for Sunrisers
In reply, Sunrisers got a decent start to their chase as the openers Adam Rossington and Jordan Hermann added 35 runs for the first wicket. After losing Rossington on 35, Hermann continued his innings and went on to score 43 off 39 balls. Sunrisers suffered a mini collapse as they went from 92/2 to 93/5. However, Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen made sure there were no hiccups in the chase as they took their team home in 18.2 overs and won by 5 wickets.
Bjorn Fortuin was the pick of the bowlers for Royals who picked up 3/20 in 4 overs while Lungi Ngidi picked up 2/31 in four overs.
Aiden Markram was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his marvellous bowling performance.
