Watch: Aakash Chopra makes RP Singh apologise to Sachin Tendulkar on air for an old incident
During Match 30 of the SA20 league between Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings, Capitals’ batter Theunis de Bruyn was dismissed in a bizarre fashion. On the first ball of the fifth over bowled by Alzarri Joseph during the second innings, Philip Salt played a straight drive which hit Joseph’s legs and went straight onto hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end. As a result, De Bruyn, who was outside of his crease was adjudged run out.
Former India batter Aakash Chopra and former pacer RP Singh, who were commentating on the game also shared their views on the incident. RP Singh recalled an incident when he got the legendary Sachin Tendulkar run out in the same manner.
He also said that he had apologised to Tendulkar straight away after the incident. Chopra, however, humorously asked him to apologise to the legendary cricketer once again.
“I have never been able to run out someone after the ball hit a part of my body while bowling but then I did hit a straight drive once while batting and the player at the non-striker’s end was run out because of that,” Singh replied.
Chopra later retweeted the video of the incident and apologised to Tendulkar, who also responded with a hilarious comment. He replied that for once the straight drive, his trademark shot during his playing days, was not his favourite stroke.
Sorry again, @sachin_rt paji 🙏 https://t.co/HIslvQciKf

“For once, the straight drive wasn’t my favorite shot! @cricketaakash. @rpsingh bhaiyya toh batting karte samay bhi wicket lete the! (RP Singh used to take wickets even when batting!),” Tendulkar responded to Chopra’s tweeted.

Pretoria Capitals won the match by 6 wickets
Coming back to the match, after winning the toss, Pretoria Capitals captain Wayne Parnell won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision proved to be right as they bundled out Joburg Super Kings for 122 in the first innings. Captain Faf Du Plessis top scored for the Super Kings with his knock of 51 off 22 balls. Anrich Nortje and Jimmy Neesham picked up three wickets each for the Capitals.
In reply, the Capitals chased down the target in 13 overs courtesy of a brilliant half century by Philip scored who remained unbeaten on 52 off 30 balls.
