The second Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand is being played in Karachi. New Zealand have got 3 back to back setbacks after getting a great start. In that regard, Pakistan made a slight comeback in the match. Pakistan all-rounder Agha Salman dismissed first the set New Zealand batter Devon Conway and then cleaned up New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell with a beauty of a delivery.

Salman’s ball went inwards and rattled the stumps. Mitchell tried to defend on that ball, but he couldn’t read the length of the ball and it blew the bails. After getting out, Mitchell looked extremely disappointed and dejected.

Talking about the match, New Zealand opted to bat first after winning the toss. Openers, Tom Latham and Conway once again stepped up and stitched a brilliant 134-run stand for the first wicket. However, Latham was dismissed after scoring 71 runs which included 9 fours. Coming in at no.3, skipper Kane Williamson joined hands with Conway.

Agha Salman brought Pakistan back into the game

Conway smashed a magnificent century and stitched a marvelous 100-run partnership with Williamson. The left-hander got out on 122 runs in which he smashed 16 fours and 1 six. After that, the Blackcaps started losing wickets at a regular intervals of time. From 234/2 to 279/6, the Kiwi’s middle order displayed a really bad performance.

Coming in at no. 6, New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell took the responsibility. He was supported by Ish Sodhi, who smashed a brilliant half-century in the first Test match against Pakistan. At the time of stumps, New Zealand are 309 for 6 with Blundell and Sodhi unbeaten on 30 and 11 respectively.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s off-spinner Salman brought his team back into the contest with those three wickets. Making a comeback, Naseem Shah took 2 wickets, while Abrar Ahmed got rid of 1 batter. New Zealand will hope to get this score to as close as 400 as possible, a total which will put them in good stead. This Test started well and could build up nicely on Day 2.
