Watch: Andrew Tye gets into a stare down competition with a fan during BBL match 46

The Big Bash League is one of the most entertaining cricket leagues in the world. The season 12 of the tournament has lived up to its reputation as the competition is getting intense with just four matches left in the league stages. There have been instances on the cricket field when the game has become mundane and fans have found other ways to entertain themselves.

The same happened during Match 46 of the ongoing season between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers. A young fan in the crowd was seen holding a placard which read ‘I can out stare Andrew Tye’. The fan was constantly staring at the camera without blinking even once to challenge the cricketer.

Andrew Tye replied to the fan by gesturing no with his head and finger.

Coming back to the match, Hobart Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade won the toss and elected to bat first. Hurricanes lost their opener Caleb Jewell cheaply on the score of 12. Captain Wade also failed to go big as he returned to the pavilion for a duck. Hurricanes’ kept on losing wickets throughout their innings at regular intervals.

Aaron Hardie starred in Perth Scorchers’ victory

They were reeling at 96/7 in 14.5 and looked like getting bundled out without playing entire 20 overs. However, a 44-run stand between Faheem Ashraf and Tom Andrews took them past the 140-run mark. They eventually finished their innings on 146/9 in 20 overs. Lance Morris and Andrew Tye picked up two wickets each for Scorchers.

In reply, Scorchers got off to a horrible start as they lost their openers Stephen Eskinazi and Cameron Bancroft inside two overs. Seeing their team in trouble, Aaron Hardie and  Josh Inglis got together at the crease and took their team out of trouble.

They were involved in a 127-run stand in 89 balls as Scorchers won the match by seven wickets and 15 balls to spare. Inglis scored 53 off 35 balls with the help of five fours and one six while Aaron Hardie remained unbeaten on 90 off 62 balls smashing 13 fours and one six. He was also awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his scintillating knock.
