WATCH: Ben Chilwell and Conor Bradley clash in high octane Carabao Cup finals, Liverpool beat Chelsea 1-0

In the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, Liverpool beat Chelsea by 1-0. A late goal from Virgil Van Dijik led the young team to a glorious start to the season. In the 118th minute of the game, Dijik scored for Liverpool, giving his team a decisive lead of 1-0 in the summit clash.

However, the game witnessed a heated moment in the first half. It occurred when Ben Chilwell and Conor Bradley got into a scuffle, nearly resulting in both teams being reduced to ten men. The incident occurred in the first half when Chilwell and Bradley collided innocuously, leading the Chelsea captain to react angrily.

Chilwell pushed Bradley and attempted to confront him, sparking a confrontation. Conor Gallagher and Harvey Elliott intervened as peacemakers. However, the situation escalated when Cody Gakpo pushed Chilwell off the pitch, further infuriating the England international.

Here is the video:

Players from both teams rushed in, with Ibrahima Konate stepping in to separate Gakpo and Nicolas Jackson. The scuffle resulted in yellow cards for both Chilwell and Bradley. Jamie Carragher, on commentary, suggested that Chilwell might have been trying to provoke a reaction from Bradley. Despite the tensions, the match continued with both teams aiming for victory.

Liverpool looked faded, with key players out!

Looking at the broader context of the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool, managed by Jurgen Klopp, faced challenges. The team missed key players Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, who were sidelined due to injuries. However, Klopp’s trust in the youngsters paid off as they kicked off a dream farewell tour for their coach.

On the other hand, Chelsea, under manager Mauricio Pochettino, aimed to win their first trophy under his tenure. However, they failed to do so despite putting up a high-octane performance. Earlier, Pochettino acknowledged the uniqueness of a final, emphasising that there’s no clear favourite and the game starts at nil.

He highlighted the intense competition, stating that each team has to work incredibly hard for an advantage in the final. The absence of a home ground added to the unpredictability, creating an exciting and evenly poised contest for both Liverpool and Chelsea supporters.
