The International League T20 has got massive popularity in the first week itself as fans have got to see some mind-blowing cricketing action. The Match number 8 between Dubai Capitals and Gulf Giants was no different as fans got to see several boundaries being hit in the match. During the first innings, a beautiful delivery by Akif Raja which shattered the stumps caught the attention of the fans.

The incident took place on the fifth ball of the 15th over as Raja bowled a good-length delivery. David Wiese set himself to face the delivery as he opened up his arms but quickly brought his arms down seeing the ball shape back in. However, the ball still managed to go through between his bat and pad it shaped in sharply and it crashed into the stumps.

Coming back to the match, Dubai Capitals captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to bowl first. Gulf Giants openers Rehan Ahmed and captain James Vince walked out to the middle to give their side a blazing start. However, they failed to do so as they could only add 22 runs as Ahmed was dismissed by Isuru Udana.

Captain James Vince continued to build on his innings and added 82 runs for the second wicket with Chris Lynn. After their partnership ended, Giants lost two more wickets in quick succession and were 121/5 after 14.5 overs.

Liam Livingstone was awarded ‘Player of the Match’

A brilliant inning from Shimron Hetmyer of 37 off 19 took them to a total of 181/6 after 20 overs. Isuru Udana and Akif Raja picked up two wickets each from Dubai Capitals.

In reply to their total, Dubai Capitals kept losing wickets throughout their innings to keep up with the required run rate. Only two batters from their lineup crossed the 20-run mark which were Joe Root who scored 20 off 19 and Dasun Shanaka who scored 23 off 19. They eventually got all out for just 80 handing a victory to Gulf Giants by a massive margin of 101 runs.

Richard Gleeson and David Wiese picked up three wickets each while Richard Gleeson picked up two wickets. James Vince was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his knock of 76 off 48 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes.
