Watch: Naveen Ul-Haq refuses to apologize after heated argument, walks away from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli

Published on

After the IPL 2023 match between the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, yesterday, tempers flared in both camps. The violent argument between Virat Kohli and LSG coach Gautam Gambhir began with Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq making a comment to the former RCB captain during the game as he walked in to bat alongside Amit Mishra. Mishra as well as the umpire interfered at that point to put an end to the situation before it got out of hand.

But it did get out of hand during the traditional greeting after the game among the two teams. While shaking hands, Naveen repeated something, and Kohli declined to hold back and returned the handshake prior to Glenn Maxwell getting the LSG pacer out of the way.

Then, as Kohli attempted to clarify what actually occurred and Gambhir believed to stand up for his player, a full-blown altercation broke out. LSG captain KL Rahul made an effort to defuse the situation following the heated conversation among the two former teammates.

While Naveen was passing by, Rahul asked his bowler to talk it out. Rahul was observed having a lengthy conversation with Kohli while attempting to understand what had happened. But instead of apologising to Kohli, Naveen chose to walk away with a bad attitude.

Talking about the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore benefited from posting a score because the opposition batted aimlessly without captain KL Rahul who had to leave the field early in the game because of a hamstring/hip flexor injury. Lucknow Super Giants batters continued to hit hard in an effort to gain an advantage during the powerplay but kept being struck out. Prior to Marcus Stoinis and K Gowtham taping the leak, the home team was down to 38/5. But once Stoinis was fired by Karn Sharma, it was clear what would happen.

Amit Mishra faced 30 balls and took the game ahead, but they were still in need of an appropriate batting partner that could add a few boundaries late in the innings. Rahul, the team’s captain, went out to bat but was unable to even get a walk, and Royal Challengers Bangalore secured their sixth victory of the year.
