WATCH: Rassie Van Der Dussen pulls of amazing catch to dismiss Mitchell Marsh

Australia got off to a great start and scored 60 for no loss in the first six overs in pursuit of the 213-run target. Just when it seemed as if the men in yellow would run away with the game, South Africa made a strong comeback as Rassie Van Der Dussen played a crucial role.

South Africa batted first after Temba Bavuma had won the toss under overcast Kolkata skies. Both teams went into the game making two changes each from their previous games in the ODI World Cup 2023 group phase matches.

The Indian team is awaiting the winner of the 2nd semi-final on Thursday. The winner will then fly to Ahmedabad to play India in the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rassie Van Der Dussen screamer gets the big wicket of Mitchell Marsh –

Chasing 213 to win, David Warner and Travis Head went after the South African bowling unit. Both the openers took full toll on some loose bowling from the opposition. Mitchell Marsh came out to bat at number three before falling for a duck to an amazing catch by Rassie Van Der Dussen.

The 4th ball of the 8th over saw Mitchell Marsh prepare himself for a cutshot against Kagiso Rabada. The 32-year-old got a good connection as the ball was flying with great speed only for Rassie Van Der Dussen to intervene. The veteran South African batter flung himself to his right and took a great two-handed catch.

Earlier in the day David Miller scored a memorable century to help his side post 212 on the board. This after the South Africans were at one stage reduced to 24/4 thanks to Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

If it wasn’t for the 95-run stand between Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller the South Africans would have been bowled out cheaply. Both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins picked three wickets. Adam Zampa for the first time in a while went wicket-less and failed to add to his 22 wicket tally during the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.
