Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja turned out to be a hero for his team in the final of IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad after hitting back-to-back boundaries in the last two balls of the match as CSK clinched the fifth IPL title. After the match, Jadeja’s wife Rivaba was seen touching his feet as a mark of respect.

Rivaba Jadeja is one of the MLAs in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and got a lot of support from her husband during her election campaign. After touching his feet, Raviba hugged Jadeja as they both were celebrating CSK’s IPL triumph. MS Dhoni’s men registered a five-wicket victory against the defending GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Talking about the match, batting first, GT posted a big total of 214 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, powered by Sai Sudharsan’s career-best IPL knock of 96 runs off 47 balls. The 21-year-old smashed eight fours and sixes during his innings and laid the foundation for a big total. Opener Wirddhiman also got out after a well-made 54 runs off 39 balls with five fours and a maximum.

Chasing the winning total, CSK openers just played three balls of the first over before rain decided to play a spoilsport. After that, the match was reduced to 15 overs and CSK now needed 171 runs as per the DLS method to win. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put up a partnership of 74 runs for the first wicket in just 6.3 overs. Gaikwad got out after scoring 26 runs off 16 balls, while a couple of deliveries later, Conway also lost his wicket after scoring 47 off 25 balls with four fours and two sixes.

After that, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayadu, and Shivam Dube played a handful of knocks that helped CSK to get closer to the target. Rahane got out after scoring 27 of 13 balls while Rayadu scored 19 off 8. Dube remained unbeaten on 32 runs off 21 balls, but it was Jadeja who finished things off for CSK when 10 runs were needed from the last two balls. He smashed a six on the penultimate balls and a four on the last ball of the match by Mohit Sharma as CSK registered a thrilling victory to clinch their fifth IPL title
