WATCH: Sarfaraz Khan’s brother Musheer Khan notches maiden double-ton in Ranji Trophy following stellar U-19 World Cup
In a sensational display of skill and determination, Musheer Khan, the young talent from Mumbai, stole the spotlight with a remarkable maiden double century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Baroda.
His unbeaten 203 not out proved to be the cornerstone as Mumbai seized a commanding lead on the second day of the quarter-final encounter. Musheer Khan who was the 2nd highest run-scorer for India in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup is now carrying on his dream run in the Ranji Trophy too.
Musheer Khan, a rising star in Indian cricket, showcased his immense potential by converting his maiden first-class century into a monumental double ton. Having made his debut for Mumbai in December 2022, Musheer has swiftly established himself as a promising right-handed batter all-rounder.
Musheer’s innings of 203 runs not only underscored his batting prowess but also demonstrated his ability to anchor the innings under pressure. His partnership with Hardik Tamore, who contributed a valuable 57 runs, steered Mumbai from a precarious position to a formidable total of 383 runs in their first innings. Watch the innings here:
Double celebration for Naushan Khan
Musheer Khan is the brother of Sarfaraz Khan who recently made his debut for India in Tests and scored two consecutive half-centuries in his maiden test. Their father Naushad Khan has been their inspiration and their coach from their childhood and witnessing both his children achieving success at the same time will be a satisfying feeling for him. Despite Bhargav Bhatt’s impressive seven-wicket haul, Baroda struggled to contain Musheer Khan’s onslaught which took Mumbai from 142 for 5 to 384.
In response to Mumbai’s formidable total, Baroda faced early setbacks in their first innings. The dismissals of Priyanshu Moliya and Jyotsnil Singh put Baroda in a spot of bother but S.Rawat and V.Solanki’s unbeaten 62-run stand saved the day for Baroda leaving them at 127-2 at the end of Day 2, still 257-runs behind Mumbai’s first innings score.
