WATCH: Shaheen Afridi hopes Pakistan fans turnout in numbers for crucial ODI World Cup 2023 clash against India
After winning the Asia Cup 2023, Team India is looking to win the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which will commence on October 5 on their home soil. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. will be facing Australia on October 8 to commence their journey. However, the Pakistan team will be looking to bounce back in the marquee event after suffering several defeats in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023. The Men in Green will be facing the Netherlands on October 6 to begin their journey.
Both arch rivals, India and Pakistan, will be facing each other on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahemdabad. Meanwhile, both sides recently met twice in the Asia Cup 2023. Babar Azam and Co. displayed their terrific form in the group stages as they bundled out the Men in Blue for just 266 runs. However, they couldn’t maintain this winning momentum as Team India recorded a historic victory against the Men in Green during the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023 on September 11 in Colombo.
Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Pakistan star cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi wants people to come to the host country and support the Pakistan team on October 14 during the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the match is expected to grab an audience of more than 1 lakh, which will make it one of the most anticipated games of the tournament.
I hope people will come to India and support Pakistan: Shaheen Afridi
“The match against India in Ahmedabad will have a crowd of over one lakh. If you do well in these games, people will take more notice of you. I hope people will come to India and support Pakistan,” Shaheen Afridi said in the video posted by Apex Cricket Council.
The 23-year-old cricketer has had a great stint against India. Notably, the left-arm pacer displayed his magnificent form during the 2021 T20 World Cup held in Dubai, where he guided his side to a 10-wicket win over India. Notably, the great seamer also dismantled India’s top order during the group stages of the Asia Cup 2023 before rain halted the play at Pallekele.
