During the match between South Africa and India at Cape Town, Gavaskar was asked to pick his favourite cricketer from Pakistan. The former Indian cricketer picked Zaheer Abbas as his favourite cricketer from Pakistan. Popularly known as the Asian Bradman, Zaheer Abbas was a technically sound player.
