Watch: Umran Malik bowls the fastest delivery by an Indian pacer against Sri Lanka in first T20I

Published on

India’s rising pace sensation, Umran Malik made headlines on Tuesday when he bowled a thunderbolt in the first T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka. Bowling the fourth ball of the 17th over, Umran Malik clocked a delivery of 155 kmph to Dasun Shanaka. It was full and around off and Shanaka wanted to send it over extra covers for a four.

However, due to the extra pace on the delivery, he couldn’t get the elevation, and the man stationed at the extra cover region, Chahal took a sharp catch. That delivery proved to be the fastest ball of the match.

Shanaka was looking dangerous and threatening to take the game away from the hosts. He had scored 45 runs in 27 balls, a knock which was laced with 3 fours and as many sixes.

Had the Sri Lanka skipper stayed there for a bit longer, he would have had his team over the line quite easily. But, fortunately for India, Umran Malik got the vital wicket and brought his team back into the game.
