West Indies defeated India by six wickets to level up the series 1-1

The Indian team management decided to rest captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the second ODI in order to assess the younger cricketers’ skillsets prior to the ODI World Cup. The strategy was a total failure because the visiting team failed to make a splash at the plate. They got off to a fantastic start thanks to Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, but the cricketers once again failed to turn that start into a significant total.

Axar Patel was promoted in the order, but that decision also failed, and Sanju Samson, who was returning, did not make the most of his chance. Later, Suryakumar Yadav attempted to save India from a humiliating circumstance, but the Mumbai-born cricketer was unable to continue for very long because the Hardik Pandya-led team scored 181 runs in the first innings.

West Indies, on the other hand, appeared much more composed with the bat. Shai Hope took the initiative and scored 63 runs off 84 deliveries, while Keacy Carty dazzled everyone with a tough 48-run performance. Kuldeep Yadav only managed to take one wicket, but Shardul Thakur displayed impressive bowling by taking three.

Rahul Dravid who is the head coach of the Indian Cricket Team stated the importance of trying out new combinations as well as ahead of the World Cup, but as the day draws closer, the problem seems plenty for the Indian team.

After the completion of the match, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid explained the reason why there are so many changes that are being made in the playing eleven. Dravid explained that this is the only ODI series which will be played before Asia Cup which is scheduled to be played in September.
