The stage is all set to host the second semi-final match of the ODI World Cup 2023 between five-time world champions Australia and South Africa, slated to take place on November 16 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Notably, both sides have met early, where Proteas thrashed Australia in the league stage of the marquee event.
South Africa performed exceptionally well in the tournament, as they have just suffered two losses, against the Netherlands and hosts India in the marquee event, and ended their journey in the second spot in the points table. Moreover, the Temba Bavuma side registered seven wins in the tournament and will be looking to get a win to reach the finals.

Speaking about the weather, according to the MET department, Kolkata’s weather is likely to be gloomy and rainy during the game. Moreover, there are 23% chance of rain. The fans can still expect the full 100 overs of the game to take place regardless of the interruptions. However, the predicted temperature at Eden Gardens will be approximately 27 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of roughly 69% and wind speeds of about 13 kmph.
There is a reserve day as well for this match, so if rains continues to play spoilsport, then the match will shift to November 17. Moreover, if rain continues, overs get reduced, and in severe rainfall, South Africa will be qualified for the final match, resulting in a better net run rate in the league stage as compared to Australia, despite equal losses and wins.
