Kane Williamson and Ish Sodhi put in a brilliant 174-run partnership to help New Zealand extend the lead to 174 runs on day four of the first Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand. Williamson stole the show with the bat as he went on to notch his fifth double-century in Test Cricket.

The former Test skipper scored his fifth double-century and with that, he now has the most number of double-hundreds in Tests by any New Zealand batter. As far as the current batters are concerned, Williamson is second on the list, only behind to Virat Kohli, who has 7 double-centuries to his name.

Besides, Williamson has reached 25 tons in Tests. David Warner and Inzamam Ul Haq has have the same number of centuries to their name. Kane Williamson’s love affair with Pakistan continues. Notably, his last double century was also scored against Pakistan only and, he is the only New Zealand player who have managed to score more than 1000 runs in Test cricket against Pakistan.

With that double-century, Williamson has also managed to reach past 7500-run mark in Test Cricket. The former Test skipper is the only non-Asian player to have hit centuries in different countries, namely Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, UAE, West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Pakistan.

Williamson, though, hasn’t scored a century in South Africa. Williamson reached his double-ton with a six and a four. Skipper Tim Southee declared the innings right after Williamson reached his double-ton.

With that, they took a lead of 174 runs at the end of the first innings. Pakistan in their second innings have managed to score 32 runs in their second innings without any loss of wickets.

Fans have been mightly pleased with Kane Williamson’s masterclass knock. Twitter has been filled with heart-warming messages for the New Zealand cricketer. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
