ODI World Cup 2023

‘Well said Gauti bhai’ – Fans react as Gautam Gambhir talks about KL Rahul’s importance as No. 4 batter heading into ODI World Cup 2023

With just a few days left for the ODI World Cup 2023, Team India has been successfully able to sort out middle-order issues owing to the comeback of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the squad. Notably, India’s young batter, Ishan Kishan, also sets to bat in the middle order in the upcoming marquee event. Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Gautam Gambhir feels the Men in Blue need stability at number 4 in the upcoming big tournament set to commence on October 5.

The former India opener believes that star batter KL Rahul provides stability at number four, which allows the side to not be fully dependent on the top three batsmen. In addition, the LSG coach heaped praise on the right-handed batter for making a terrific comeback after injury as he hammered 111 runs against Pakistan and a crucial 39 runs against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023.

KL Rahul provides you that stability: Gautam Gambhir

“The most important thing is stability. You need a batter at No. 4 who can give you stability because you don’t want to put the entire pressure on your top three. KL Rahul provides you that stability. However, more important than that was that he scored a century in his first game against Pakistan after coming back from injury and he looked in a totally different rhythm after that,” Gautam Gambhir said on the Star Sports.

The 41-year-old cricketer also says that KL Rahul just needed one innings to get his confidence, rhythm, and mindset back on track. Moreover, the well-renowed cricket commentator hails KL Rahul for his stunning century against Pakistan despite getting to know he was playing just five minutes ago.

“Whoever has played international cricket for a very long time will know that you need one inning and your entire rhythm, confidence and mindset change. The good thing was that he was told only five minutes before,” he added further.
