Australia have locked horns against Team India at Rajkot on September 27 for the third and final ODI. Notably, Australia is looking into its tremendous form against the home team. During the play, Australia’s star batter Steve Smith completed 5000 runs in the ODI format in his career. Notably, the right-handed batter achieved this milestone in 143 matches.

The top-order batter has always performed magnificently against Team India. The great batter has 12 centuries and 30 half centuries to his name in the 50-over format, alongside more than 9000 runs in Test cricket. In addition, the 34-year-old batter also struck the century against the Men in Blue in the World Test Championship Final and guided his side to lift the first ever trophy of the WTC Final.

Meanwhile, Pat Cummins-led Australia has already lost the series as they suffered heartbreaking defeats in the first and second ODI played at Mohali and Indore. Notably, visitors cannot win the series but are looking to grab the last match to start the ODI World Cup campaign on a positive note. However, India and Australia will be facing each other on October 8 to commence their journey.

Hopefully we’ll turn it around in the third ODI: Steve Smith

In addition, former Australia skipper Steve Smith got an opportunity to lead his side during the second ODI against India in the absence of regular skipper Pat Cummins. Moreover, following the loss in the second ODI in Indore, the great cricketer was hopeful to turn things around in the last and third ODI against Rohit Sharma and Co.

“When we came here it looked like a good wicket. Credit to them, Gill and Iyer batted beautifully and took the game away from us. The way KL and Surya batted, it was brilliant. After the rain, it got sticky and it started to spin. We have lost quite a few (matches) in a row, in South Africa and here. We need to sort out a few things, hopefully we turn it around in the next game. We have a few days now, we are working towards the World Cup, both the teams are. Hopefully we will turn it around in the last game,” Steve Smith said following the loss in second ODI.
