Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently playing against Sri Lanka for the final match of the Asia Cup 2023 on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, Team India is considered one of the most successful sides in the Asia Cup after winning the title seven times, and this time they will also be looking to win the title against the defending champions on their home soil.

Notably, the Men in Blue have displayed their stellar performances in the Asia Cup 2023. They first registered a 10-wicket win against Nepal to enter the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023. Following that, Team India defeated Pakistan and Sri Lanka during the Super Fours to make their way into the final of the Asia Cup 2023. However, they also suffered a shocking six-run defeat against Bangladesh in the last and final game of the Super Fours.

Axar Patel is injured so Washington Sundar comes in for him: Rohit Sharma

Speaking about the ongoing match, it was Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka who won the toss and invited the visitors to field first. Notably, the Men in Blue are all back with the previous changes, while Axar Patel is out of the game owing to the injuries he sustained against Bangladesh in the Super Fours. Meanwhile, star all-rounder Washington Sundar has replaced him and also gets the nod in the starting eleven.

“We are confident of chasing down whatever Sri Lanka put on the board. This is a good chance to go aggressive with the ball and see what the surface has to offer. We came really close last game, anything about 240 on this surface is good. Our job today is to do well with the ball, and then see what we can do with the bat. The crowd have been brilliant. Hopefully, they get to witness a good final. Everyone’s back after the rest in the last game, Axar is injured so Washington Sundar comes in for him,” Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
