‘World Cup me bhi yahi haal hoga’ – Fans react on India’s resounding triumph as they crush Pakistan by 228 Runs in Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Clash
On September 11, the third match in the Super 4 round of the Asia Cup 2023 pitted India and Pakistan against one another at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Indian cricket team outplayed Pakistan by 228 runs thanks to great all-around play.
Speaking about the game, after winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bowl first, but Indian openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave their team a terrific start by putting together a 121-run stand for the first wicket. Both players made half-centuries, but they left the game shortly afterwards.
But subsequently, India’s top batsmen Virat Kohli and KL Rahul moved the innings along and put up a magnificent 200+ run partnership. Both individuals achieved centuries. Rahul scored a much-needed century in his return game following his injury recuperation.
Rahul hit 12 fours and two sixes in his 111 runs off 106 balls. The 47th century of Kohli’s career, which featured 9 fours and 3 sixes, was also a stunning one. With just two wickets lost in 50 overs and 122 runs scored off just 94 deliveries, he led the side to a record-breaking total of 356 runs.
A brilliant all-round performance by the Indian cricket team
With the exception of Naseem Shah, no Pakistani bowler could trouble the Indian batters. Despite bowling 9.2 overs and allowing only 53 runs to be scored, Naseem was unable to claim any wickets. Pakistan’s attempt to chase down the mark got off to a terrible start as they lost opener Imam-ul-Haq in the fifth over of the game.
But in the eleventh over of the match, Hardik Pandya‘s dismissal of Pakistan captain Babar Azam dealt them a severe setback. In spite of Agha Salman and Iftikhar Ahmed’s best efforts, the Pakistani batters were only able to score 128 runs thanks to Kuldeep Yadav’s outstanding bowling performance, which resulted in him taking 5 wickets during the game.
