World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz beats David Goffin in first match of Hopman Cup after Wimbledon 2023 victory

First victory after Wimbledon 2023 for Alcaraz

In the first match of the new tournament, Alcaraz faced David Goffin of Belgium and won the match in a three-set thriller. The athlete from Belgium took the early lead in the match as he conquered the first set 6-4. To stay alive in the match, the Spaniard had to win the second set. Alcaraz made an incredible comeback in the match and won the second set 6-4.

The decisive set between the two was intensive. Neither of the two was ready to give up. The match entered a crucial mode. With the experience of performing the best under pressure after playing against big stars, Alcaraz brought in a winning attitude in the match and emerged victorious against Goffin. It was the first victory of the Spaniard after the famous win against Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon in 2023.

The two had faced each other in the mixed doubles event on Friday. Against Croatia, Alcaraz will face world number 15 Borna Coric in singles.
