World number one Carlos Alcaraz moves to Round 3 of Miami Open, beats Facundo Bagnis in straight sets

Defending his title at the Miami Open world number one Carlos Alcaraz beat Argentinian Facundo Bagnis in straight sets. Alcaraz won the game in just 65 minutes by defeating Bagnis in straight sets by 6-0, 6-2. The 19-year-old Spaniard had a blistering start in the game as he clinched the first eleven points without any resistance.

However, In the second set, Bagnis made some good moves to level the score by 2-2 but eventually failed to hold their nerves and lost the game. With this victory, Alcaraz advanced to the third round of the tournament where he might face eighter of Serbian Dusan Lajovic or American Maxime Cressy. After winning the game Alcaraz said that starting a new tournament is never easy.

Notably, Alcaraz earned attention during last year’s Miami Open when he became the youngest player to win the title. After winning that trophy Alcaraz has talked about his aspiration of coming back with a Grand Slam. Speaking about the same Alcaraz said that I am a better man now. Alcaraz said, “I grew up a lot since last year. It has been a great year for me as a player, and as a person as well. I learned a lot of things. Not only on the court but also off the court as well.”

Further speaking about his injury during Australia open the number one seeded player said that he needs to manage himself better. Speaking about the same Alcaraz said, “I have to take care of myself a little bit more off the court, taking care about going early to bed, to rest better, eat well, take care of myself off the court. That’s the most important thing for me.” Notably, Alcaraz needs to defend his title here in Miami to be number one in the rankings. He is the youngest player to hold the top spot and will need to perform well to continue.
