The Indian Cricket Board has announced that the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction will be held on December 9 in Mumbai, ahead of WPL 2024. Notably, all five franchises have released the list of retention and released players ahead of the mini-auction. According to sources, WPL is set to commence from February to March next year.

The five franchises have released a total of 29 players ahead of the WPL auction. However, all the franchises have retained over 60 players, including 21 overseas players. Notably, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians were the first team to grab the inaugural title after defeating the Delhi Capitals in March this year at Braborne Cricket Stadium in Mumbai.

Notably, for the inaugural edition, the franchise was allocated to spend 12 crores; however, it has increased from 12 crores to 13.5 crores ahead of the WPL 2024 auction. Gujarat Giants currently possess the highest purse after releasing players, with INR 5.95 crore at their disposal, and this excludes the 1.5 crore that will be added to the purse. However, other teams have varying amounts left, with UP Warriors having INR 4 crore, Royal Challengers Bangalore with 3.35 crore, and Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals with 2.1 and 2.5 crore, respectively.
