Xbox exclusive games may lose their exclusive title soon

Rumours regarding Xbox launching some of their exclusive titles on multiple platforms have been floating around for some time. However, the most recent leaks suggest that the company might be making a lot more games non-exclusive.

This means that games like Halo might be available on PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles. The situation is further complicated with Xbox head Phil Spencer commenting on the matter.

In his recent social media post, Phil wrote, “We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.”

Listening here obviously refers to the ongoing rumours and outcry of the community. There is no information on the news if the Xbox will be good or bad. Credible insiders say many exclusives including the upcoming Indiana Jones game will also be released on PS5.

Exclusives, good or bad?

The debate on console exclusives has been a talk for decades. Console players may argue that exclusives are a good thing and by all means, it can be a good thing sometimes. Exclusives are what make people buy consoles.

Companies like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will see a severe drop in product sales if they had gone to multi-platform. Furthermore, being non-exclusive also disrespects dedicated players on one console.

On the flip side, one can argue that exclusive games reduce the potential sales of a game also resulting in revenue loss. For this reason, Xbox games now usually come with Windows releases. Similarly, Sony is also porting exclusive PS titles after some time to PC.

The fate of Xbox games is currently unknown. Maybe the company will entirely ditch the exclusive idea. However, with this decision, fans fear that the Xbox might tap out of the console wars.
