Pakistan vs New Zealand 2023
‘Yar ye Leg spinner ka kch karo’ – Twitter reacts after Ish Sodhi sends Babar Azam back early in the second innings against New Zealand
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam failed to impress his fans in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand at the National Stadium, Karachi as he got dismissed early after scoring just 14 runs. The Pakistan batter came into the crease when the night watchman Nauman Ali got dismissed at the score of 82 runs after scoring just 4 runs.
Babar got LBW to Blackcaps leg spinner Ish Sodhi on a lethal googly which was pitched short and spin back in and kept a tad low as well. He read the ball but goes back to pull but the ball goes under his bat. The ball struck his pads and kissed the stumps. He was the fourth man to get dismissed in the second innings of the Pakistan side when the score was 100.
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has been playing amazing Test Cricket this year. On the opening day of this Test match on Monday, he scored his tenth century in a test. During the most recent Test series against England, he scored the most runs for Pakistan and finished third overall.
Babar along with the former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, build up a brilliant partnership of 196 runs when they lost three wickets for just 48 runs. Sarfaraz scored 90 runs in his comeback innigs.
In just 16 innings, he has managed to score 1105 runs at an average of 73 in Test Cricket. The 28-year-old has also surpassed Mohammad Yusuf for scoring the most runs in a calendar year. He missed a well-deserved double hundred as he got dismissed on 161 in the first innings. If he had scored a double century then that would have been his maiden in the longest format.
Earlier former New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson also completed his fifth double-hundred in the ongoing Test against Pakistan. New Zealand declared their innings after taking a lead of 174 runs on a score of 612/9 and the southpaw returned to the pavilion at a score of 200.
