Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has made the fans go berserk after he said that he believes that the skipper MS Dhoni may continue to play in the Indian Premier League next season. He said this after CSK played their last home game of IPL 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

There have been rumours since the start of the tournament that the former Indian skipper may play his last season for CSK in IPL 2023. However, Dhoni neither made any statement regarding this nor he confirmed that he will be playing in the next season. Many fans still believe that he will be seen in the CSK yellow jersey next year as well.

“We believe MS Dhoni is going to play next season as well so I hope fans will continue to support us like every time,” Vishwanathan was reportedly quoted as saying.

KKR registered a convincing victory over CSK to keep their campaign alive

Talking about the match, CSK suffered a defeat in their last home game of the season as KKR defeated them by 6 wickets in match number 61 of IPL 2023. Batting first, CSK posted a total of 144 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, KKR chased the winning total in 18.3 overs by losing just 4 wickets. CSK kept losing wickets at regular intervals as the score was reduced to 72 for 5 in 10.6 overs. Devon Conway got out after scoring 30 off 28 balls hitting three boundaries.

After that, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja took charge of the innings as they both put up a partnership of 68 runs for the sixth wicket. Jadeja got out after playing a slow knock of 20 runs off 24 balls but Dube remained unbeaten 48 runs off 34 balls with one four and three sixes as CSK crossed 140-run mark. Varun Chakravathy and Sunil Narine took 2 wickets each, while Vaibhav Arora and Shardul Thakur shared a wicket each.

Chasing the winning total, KKR didn’t had a great start as they lost 3 wickets for just 33 runs in 4.3 overs. After that, the skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh added 99 runs for the fourth wicket and took the game away from CSK. Rinku got out after scoring 54 runs off 43 balls with four fours and three sixes. Rana remained unbeaten on 57 runs off 44 balls with six fours and a maximum as KKR chased the winning total with nine balls to spare to keep themselves alive in the tournament. Deepak Chahar took 3 wickets for CSK.
