Ye dono khelenge bhi kya’ – Fans react as Chris Gayle picks Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav as key players for India in 2023 ODI World Cup

Former West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle feels that Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav could be key players for India as they will be hosting the upcoming ODI World Cup. The Caribbean star also believes that players from India and Pakistan demand more money for their match as he feels that the clash between the two arch-rivals is the highest-paid game TV-wise and had he been in their place, he would’ve wanted more.

Notably, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is out of cricketing actions since September 2022 due to lower back problems. He also underwent surgery in New Zealand a couple of months ago and there are rumours that the 29-year-old may make his comeback in the 2023 Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav is currently the World’s number-one T20I batter. However, his numbers haven’t been that great in the 50-over format. The 32-year-old will be looking to get his form back ahead of the Marquee event.

“Whenever those teams play, especially in a World Cup, the revenues they generate is humongous. One game can take care of the entire World event. Pakistan and India players should demand a lot of money for those games because those games are highest-paid games TV-wise. I don’t control the board or the Apex Cricket Body. If I was in their position I would want a lot more,” Gayle was quoted as saying by CricketAddictor.

‘Tough times don’t last long, tough players last longer’ – Gayle backs Virat Kohli ahead of World Cup

Speaking further, Gayle also backed his former IPL teammate Virat Kohli to set the World Cup 2023 on fire. He touted Kohli as a tough player and said that he can be a very dangerous player after getting in the groove.

“Tough times don’t last long, tough players last longer. Virat is tough mentally as well physically. I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t go to this World Cup and dominate. As players, we always go through phases where things seem a bit dull and you need positive energy around to uplift yourself. Once we get back in the groove we know how dangerous we can be,” the former cricketer said.
