‘Ye Ishan ko kis baat ka rest mil raha hai’ – Fans react as Sanju Samson likely to be main wicketkeeper for Ireland series, Ishan Kishan to be rested

Wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson is likely to be India’s main wicketkeeper for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland. India are scheduled to play three T20Is against the hosts from the 18th to the 23rd of August. The series will be just a week ahead of the 2023 Asia Cup hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, young wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan is likely to be given a rest during the Ireland series to get him prepared for the upcoming multi-team tournament. It is understood that Kishan is mostly India’s first-choice wicketkeeper for the Asia Cup, with Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul out of action due to injuries. Pant met with a car accident in December 2022, while Rahul sustained a hamstring injury during IPL 2023. However, both players are recovering well and are expected to return to the Indian squad ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
