In the fifth game of the five-match T20I series, India beat Australia by six wickets at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In a last-ball thriller, Matthew Wade led Australia, which failed to chase 160/8 in 20 overs. India sealed the series with a 4-1 win before starting a much-awaited South African tour.

Earlier, in the game, Australian skipper Matthew Wade won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision did go well with the team, as India lost four wickets for just 55 runs in 9.1 overs. India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (21), Ruturaj Gaikwad (10), Suryakumar Yadav (5), and Rinku Singh (6). Hosts was looking at his backfoot while Shreyas Iyer tried to pull off.

Iyer, in his inning, scored 53 runs off 37 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. He, along with wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma, added 42 runs for the fifth wicket. Jitesh, in his inning, scored 24 runs off 16 balls with the help of three fours and a six. In the end, Axar Patel‘s fiery 31-run knock helped India cross the 150-run mark as the team posted 160/8 in 20 overs.

Australia fails to clinch the game.

Chasing a competitive total of 160/8, Australia had a poor start as they also lost three wickets for a mere 55 runs. The Aussies lost Josh Philipe (4), Travis Head (28), and Aaron Hardie (6). They were dismissed by Mukesh Kumar and Ravi Bishnoi within the first powerplay. However, Tim David and Ben McDermott added 47 runs for the fourth wicket.

David in his inning scored 17 runs off 17 balls with the help of a six, while McDermott scored 54 runs off 36 balls with the help of five sixes. However, in the end, Australia failed to put up a show with the bat as the tailenders fell six runs short of the target. With this win, India won the series 4-1, as they lost a single game in Indore.
