India’s team for the Test Championship Final against Australia was unveiled by the Indian Cricket Board on Tuesday, April 25. The team, which will be led by Rohit Sharma, now includes Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur. However, players like Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav did not make the final cut for the 15-person roster.

The biggest Test clash of the year between India and Australia is set to take place on June 7 to June 11. The Oval in London is the venue for the game. Australia finished at the no.1 position in the Test championship points table with 66.67 PCT, while India came in second with 58.8 PCT and qualified for the summit match.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane, an experienced batter for India, has made a remarkable comeback into India’s Test squad for the final. However, after the South Africa tour last year, he was ruled out of the squad. On January 11, 2022, Rahane played his final Test match for India against the Proteas. After that game, his name was taken off the roster.

Brilliant performance in domestic cricket by Ajinkya Rahane

In 82 Test matches for India, he has amassed 4932 runs at an average of 38.52. 12 centuries and 25 half-centuries have been produced over this time by his bat. Rahane, who has led India as captain in numerous games, has rejoined the team after a 15-month absence.

Rahane performed admirably throughout the Ranji Trophy season that just ended. For Mumbai, he amassed 634 runs at an average of 57.63 thanks to two centuries. But his team was unable to get to the knockout rounds. Rahane is also having an outstanding season in the 16th IPL. For MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, he has scored 209 runs in five innings at an average of 52.25. The strike rate for him is 199.04. Rahane benefited from this as he was chosen for the team. The injury to Shreyas Iyer, though, is also a factor in his selection.

India’s Test squad for Test Championship final: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat
