‘Ye to kutai mode on kar diya WC aate hi’ – Fans react as David Warner slams century against South Africa in second OD

After winning the first ODI of the five-match Test series by three wickets, Australia locked horns with South Africa in the second ODI of the series. The match is been played at Mangaung Onal, in Bloemfontein, South Africa on Saturday, September 9.

Star Australia opener, David Warner scored a stunning century in the second ODI against the Proteas. The southpaw registered his 46th international hundred in this match. Warner surpassed the Indian legend, Sachin Tendulkar in terms of this record. The Mumbai-born cricketer had smashed 45 tons as an opener in his illustrious career. Tendulkar slammed a total of hundred centuries out of which 55 of them came while batting in the middle order in Tests.

It’s a great ground to play in: Marnus Labuschagne

The Master Blaster used to bat at number four during the start of his career in the ODIs but shifted to open the innings in the year, 1994. Star West Indies opener, Chris Gayle comes third as he has scored 42 international centuries in his career and Sanath Jaysuriya from Sri Lanka comes fourth with 41 international centuries.

“It was nice to carry that momentum on after the way Travis Head and Dave started. The scoreboard says it’s a better pitch. I still think it’s a little bit two-paced and up and down. The dew might settle it down. I’m glad we’ve got that many on the board. I have made a few slight technical changes after I started in England, I am a bit open in my stance now,” Labuschagne was quoted as saying in the mid-innings interview.

“It’s nice that it has started so well. (On this being a happy-hunting ground for him) I met Shaun (Pollock) out there when I was four, I came out to watch them play. It’s a great ground to play in. Mum and Dad actually made it here today, the whole family is here today,” the right hand batter added.
