‘Yeh toh Gobar Azam ki annual salary hai’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli fined 24 Lakhs for slow over-rate against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023

Former Indian cricket Team captain Virat Kohli was leading Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the last two matches because RCB’s regular skipper Faf du Plessis is not fully fit. The special thing is that the performance of RCB under the leadership of Kohli in both matches has been unmatched and the team have registered victory in both matches. RCB’s performance under Kohli’s captaincy against Rajasthan Royals (RR) was top-class, but in the joy of victory, Kohli made a big mistake on the field.

Due to a slow over-rate in the match played against RR, Kohli was fined INR 24 lakhs. Not only Kohli but all the players of the team have been fined 6 lakhs. This is the second time in IPL 2023 that the RCB team has been fined due to slow overrate. Du Plessis was captaining the team in the first match and he was fined 12 lakhs.

Virat Kohli could be banned for 1 match

However, if the bowlers of RCB repeat the same mistake after the third time, then along with a fine of 30 lakhs, the captain of the team will also be banned for one match. That means, now the threat of a ban is also looming over Virat Kohli. Kohli had told at the time of the toss in the match against RR that he would be seen captaining RCB in the coming few matches.

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 runs in a thrilling match. Batting first, RCB had scored 189 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which Rajasthan’s team could score only 182 runs losing 6 wickets. For Bangalore, Du Plessis, who opened the innings as an impact player, scored 62 and Glenn Maxwell scored 77 runs. With the win, RCB rose to the fifth position. This is the second consecutive win for RCB under Kohli.

RCB will next face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 26. RCB will look to avenge their loss against KKR where they were thrashed by 81 runs.
