‘They win big matches……..’ – Yuvraj Singh issues stern warning to Team India ahead of ODI World Cup 2023 final vs Australia
Team India is all set to lock horns against five-time world champions Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 Final on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, both sides successfully won their semi-final games to place themselves in the final showdown. Rohit Sharma and Co. are unbeaten in the tournament owing to their magnificent performances. However, former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh gave a big warning to the hosts ahead of the final game.
The legendary cricketer feels the Men in Blue won’t perform badly in the final game, and they are high on confidence with their 10 out of 10 wins. However, the 2011 ODI World Cup-winning star recalled how the Aussies dominated against them in 2003 and won the final game after defeating them badly.
“Given how India’s graph has been in the World Cup, I don’t think they will perform badly. The only way India can lose this World Cup is through their mistakes. I feel they are high on confidence at the moment. Australia dominated the 2003 World Cup and although we played well and reached the final, Australia dominated us. This time, I feel India have dominated the tournament. Australia will need to play their best cricket in the final, or else they have no chance against India,” Yuvraj Singh told Sports Today.
Australia win big matches because they have that big-match temperament: Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh believes that the Aussies have the best experience with knockout games and know how to handle the pressure. Moreover, the middle-order batter feels Pat Cummins and Co. know how to keep their momentum in the big knockout games, which Team India currently lacks. The 41-year-old cricketer also lauded the semi-final innings of Australia.
“Australia know how to handle pressure. They have won the World Cup so many times. Even in the semifinal against South Africa, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc showed great composure as batters even when their specialist batters were all out. They win big matches because they have that big match temperament,” he added further.
