Yuzvendra Chahal claims T20I throne for India with 91 wickets, leaves Bhuvneshwar Kumar behind

Yuzvendra Chahal, the Indian leg-spinner, has recently achieved a remarkable milestone in the T20I format of cricket. He has now become the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is, with 91 wickets in 75 matches.

This is an outstanding achievement, and it shows Chahal’s ability as a T20I bowler. His average of 24.68 and economy of 8.13 speak volumes about his ability to pick wickets and contain runs. Chahal’s performance has been a crucial factor in India’s success in T20Is in recent years.

Chahal overtook Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 90 wickets in 87 matches. Despite playing more matches than Chahal, Kumar’s average of 23.10 and economy of 6.96 are just slightly better than Chahal’s. This highlights the competition between the two players and how close they are in terms of their performance.

The rise of Chahal as a T20I bowler has been remarkable. He has been a consistent performer for India and has consistently been among the wickets. His ability to bowl at the right moments and his variations have made him a difficult bowler to face. His success has also made him a vital part of India’s T20I team, and he will be looking to continue his good form in the future.

How Chahal’s 91st wicket came about?

Chahal was bowling to Finn Allen in the ongoing 2nd T20I against New Zealand when the Kiwi batter tried to reverse sweep the third ball of the 4th over. Allen however missed the ball and it ricocheted from his body and went directly onto the stumps, giving Chahal his 91st wicket in T20I. Yuzvendra Chahal ended the match with a 1 wicket in 2 overs. He gave away just 4 runs in the two overs that he bowled. On the back of Chahal’s inexpensive bowling, India restricted the visitors to a paltry score of 99/8.

India lost the first match of the series and would have to win the second one if they are to have any chance to win the 3 match T20I series.
