Zheng Qinwen opens up on conversation with Li Na after surprise meet at Australian Open 2024

Zheng Qinwen spoke about the interaction she had with Li Na. The current best player from China got to talk with the greatest Chinese Tennis star before the start of the tournament. Qinwen claimed it to be her maiden interaction with the former Chinese player. Qinwen claimed that Li asked her to not think much and to keep things simple.

Zheng Qinwen felt that she was following the advice of the Chinese Tennis star. “Li Na said to me don’t think too much, just keep simple. I think that’s right now what I need to do as well, yeah,” said Qinwen. She revealed that it was the first-ever conversation between the two and added that they did not have any messages or phone calls with each other till then.

Qinwen added that she only met Li as a youngster but not in person. “Very first time. We don’t have each other’s WeChat, no phone calls. We met once before when I was a junior, but not single-to-single, face-to-face,” added Zheng. The star player revealed that it was a surprise for her to meet the player she has always looked out for as a role model.

Qinwen revealed that she was happy to meet and talk to Na in person. “Well, you guys prepare really well because that was totally a surprise for me. She just went to me like this, say congratulations. I was feeling super happy to meet her and have the chance to talk with her because I never talked with her in person,” added Zheng after her match in the Australian Open 2024.

Qinwen described it as a very special moment and claimed Li to be more beautiful than she thought. “That was feeling really special for me. You know, I feel she’s much more beautiful than what I saw her – when I saw her on TV before,” Qinwen added. The Chinese top athlete would be hoping to carry forward the dreams of China with her by performing well at Melbourne.
