India vs New Zealand 2023
‘1100 din ka wait khtm hua’ – Twitter can’t contain its excitement as Rohit Sharma brings out 30th ODI century in 3rd ODI vs New Zealand
India locked horns with New Zealand in the 3rd and final ODI of the ongoing series in the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore after defeating the Black Caps in the first two ODIs.
New Zealand skipper Tom Latham won the toss and elected to bowl first. India made two changes to their side and New Zealand made one. The hosts brought in Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami respectively. On the other hand, the Kiwis brought in Jacob Duffy came in place of Henry Shipley.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill built up a marvellous partnership of 212 runs in just 26.1 overs before the dismissal of Men in Blue skipper, who was clean bowled by New Zealand spinner Michael Bracewell.
India set a mammoth target of 386 runs for New Zealand to chase
The 35-year-old scored his 30th One Day International century after a long gap of three years and six months. He scored his last century against Australia on January 19, 2022. He scored 101 runs off 88 balls which included nine fours and six sixes at a strike rate of over 118.
Gill also played a crucial knock of 112 runs from 78 balls which included 13 fours and five sixes with a strike rate of above 143 before going back to the pavilion after getting dismissed to Blair Tickner.
India finish their innings at a score of 385 runs with the loss of nine wickets and set a mammoth target of 386 runs for the visitors to chase. It is difficult to chase but it is not impossible.
India star all-rounder Hardik Pandya played a quickfire knock of 54 runs from 38 balls at a strike rate of three fours and three sixes each.
For New Zealand the successful bowlers were Duffy and Tickner with three wickets each. Duffy conceded 100 runs whereas Tickner conceded 76 runs in their spell of 10 overs. Bracewell also took one wicket which started the proceeding for the fall of the wickets.
