’76 ton loading’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli approaches his 76-tonne as India ends Day 1 of 2nd Test against West Indies on great note

On Day 1 of the 2nd TestWest Indies won the toss and invited India to bat first at the Queen’s Park Oval. After being put in to bat first, India amassed 121 with no losses before lunch as skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal maintained their magnificent form in the Caribbean. The left-handed Jaiswal and Rohit, who both got hundreds in India’s overwhelming win in the first Test, appeared in great form for yet another iconic partnership. On top of that, before the start of the match, West Indies batting icon Brian Lara gave special mementoes to the team captains of both nations to mark the two teams’ 100th Test clash with each other.

Following that, the West Indies dominated the second session, sending off the likes of Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Ajinkya Rahane before the two teams headed their ways for tea. The West Indies performed magnificently in the second session after India prevailed in the first session with great half-centuries from Rohit and Jaiswal. It’s undeniable that, by capturing significant wickets at crucial times, the Windies fought back in their second session.

Chase master Kohli is on his way to scoring another century

Following tea, Indian star batters Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja batted together, hitting at an even tempo while running hard and smashing important boundaries at the right time after losing four wickets during the second session. Notably, the pitch didn’t really support fast bowlers or spinners, and the Windies bowlers, in the first and third sessions, had been slightly anxious with Indian batters. On top of that, the great all-rounder Jadeja seems to have been hitting effectively, and the chase master Kohli is on his way to scoring another century in an overseas tournament.

After India’s loss of four wickets before tea, Virat Kohli (87) and Ravindra Jadeja (36) helped stabilize the team with a 100-run partnership. Meanwhile, they both will be looking to continue the great momentum on Day 2 and will also try to remain standing as long as they can to put an enormous total on the board against the West Indies.
