Prior to Tuesday’s first day in the second World Test Championship final versus Australia at the Kennington Oval, India skipper Rohit Sharma received a blow on the thumb. Images revealed that in the optional net session, the 36-year-old sustained an impact to his left thumb. Rohit reportedly chose against continuing his session out of an abundance of caution.

According to reports, on the morning of the final day of preparations for the World Test Championship final versus Australia, the captain departed the scheduled practice session after being struck on the thumb. In the next hours, an accurate representation of Rohit’s eligibility for the thrilling conclusion involving India and Australia ought to be available. After the blow, Physio Kamlesh attended to him, and Rohit was later seen re-putting the gloves on, indicating that it was not a significant injury. 

In preparation for his seventh Test in England, Rohit, who marked his debut in a Test in 2013, is getting ready. India has played six home Test matches under Rohit since he took over for Virat Kohli. Due to COVID-19, Rohit missed India’s fifth Test match against England, which was rescheduled for mid-2022. Australia and Team India will face off in the World Team Championship final at the Oval in London.  The second practice at The Oval preceding the World Test Championship final revealed that the Indians are still debating between Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat for their wicket-keeping position. The threat Mitchell Starc possesses is one that the Indians take very seriously.

The morning workout for Australia took place in cool, overcast weather, while the afternoon’s arrival of the Indians brought sunshine to The Oval. Except for Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and standby Suryakumar Yadav, most of those in attendance showed up even though it was voluntary.
